Houthi Catches Direct Hit from Indirect Fire

A group of Houthi Rebels find themselves running through the open as indirect fires splash down around them. A drone spots for the indirect fires team and lands a mortar round directly on top of one of them.

This footage, which was recorded by a commercially available drone, shows how much impact these toy drones are actually having throughout the world of modern war. In the past, you needed a spotter to put themselves in danger in order to get rounds on target. Today, you need a $200 drone with a longer than 30-minute battery life to do the same job, and you put nobody at risk in the process of increasing the accuracy of your mortar rounds.

As we move forward into the next era of modern warfare, keep an eye out on these drones. They've proven to be insanely effective at not only conducting small scale drone suicide attacks with 40mm and hand grenades, but also effective as well as a spotting device for indirect fires. If first world militaries do not start doing more to combat this threat, they're something that will be as or more devastating than the improvised explosive device in the mid 2000's.
